Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, MI: Au Sable Point Lighthouse

After our hike/walk by the shipwrecks, we found a staircase up from the beach back to the path and immediately encountered the Au Sable Light Station (also called Au Sable Point).

I like all lighthouses, but enjoy when they look like quintessential lighthouses that you picture in your head. All it needed was some stripes ;)

There was an awesome flag waving out front. Can you see the lighthouse silhouette on the bottom flag?

Unfortunately we were there on a Tuesday, when no tours are offered, so we didn't get to go up. But it was still fun to wander the grounds and take some photos.

We really had a beautiful day for our foray into Pictured Rocks!

Have you ever hiked to a lighthouse? I think this is the farthest we've gone to get to one. (You can take transportation in the summer if you're disabled, but the rest of us will have to walk there. See my prior post about our hike out here for more information.)
