Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, MI: Chapel Falls

Another thing Tim really recommended we do was go see Chapel Falls in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. (Actually, he really wanted us to go all the way to Chapel Rock, but timing-wise we wound up only being able to do Chapel Falls.)

There's a big parking lot at the trailhead and lots of signs letting you know distances and directions. It was about a mile and a half hike to get to the waterfall (and another 2 miles after that to get to the rock, which is why we didn't get out there -- we wanted to go see a lot of other things, too!). The hike was easy and we had lots of other people of all ages doing it with us. This trail seemed really popular and the parking lot was pretty full. The walk and time spent is totally worth it.

There are (at least) two viewing platforms. We had the beautiful shot you see above from one, and then you can get up close at the top of the falls, too, below.

We also walked across a little bridge and went to the other side of the falls.

If you have about an hour or so (depending on how fast you walk) to dedicate to hiking this, it's very pretty. (And if you have several hours, Tim thinks you should do the whole Chapel Rock trail loop and go all the way to the lake.)
