Indianapolis, IN: Indianapolis Indians vs Louisville Bats (7/4)

For the Fourth of July, we celebrated by going up to Indy for an Indianapolis Indians game against the Louisville Bats. The Bats are the Cincinnati Reds' AAA minor league affiliate, and this is the second game we've been to this summer where it was Indians vs Bats.

The day could not have been more perfect for watching baseball. The game was actually sold out (Eric got us tickets a few weeks in advance), but the Indians shot off fireworks all weekend for the holiday.

Victory Field is really nice. It's hard to have a bad seat. You can also see Lucas Oil Stadium from one side.

During the Happy Birthdays scrolling on the scoreboard, the Indians wished the United States of America a happy 238th birthday. I thought that was awesome.

As the evening went on, it got more beautiful. The game started at 6pm so it would theoretically be over by the time the Indianapolis fireworks were going to start. Well, the Bats blew a huge lead and we wound up with several innings of free baseball. I will have a separate post about both of the post-game fireworks!

If you enjoy baseball, but find yourself living near Indianapolis where there is no major league ball team, definitely check out the Indians. It's really inexpensive for a great environment and fun baseball.
